Team Rev Recap: Jan 12-18
Team Revolution women found many opportunities to explore the bikelove this week despite the freezing temps.
At our quarterly team meeting on Tuesday night, we talked about what we have in store for you in 2009. If you missed it, be sure to check out notes on the meeting here. Topics covered include membership, clinics, sponsorship and the new website.
Wednesday once again found us at indoor trainer spin. Carrie introduced us to single-legged drills and spin-ups as 14 of us sweated through spin session number 2.
One of our members opted out of Wednesday indoor spin for Atomic Cowboy’s Wheels of Glory. Pictures of the event are available on flickr and you can read her account of the race like none she had ever experienced here. The next Wheels of Glory event will be held February 11, and we’ll be sure to post details on the forum beforehand.
We once again had a huge showing at our Frostbike Series! We were thrilled to have THIRTY-SEVEN women join us at Velocity to head out and brave the cold together. Chris put together a great loop for Saturday’s route to give riders the opportunity to opt out after ten miles if things got too cold – and NO ONE took her up on the option. We rode all 15+ miles together! Sunday’s group chose the city route and worked together nicely in a double pace-line before heading back to Velocity for their fantastic Sunday brunch.
A few our members spent part of their Sunday at the Gravel Grinder Series – a Rev friendly event. Riders met at a pie shop in Hermann before spending four hours tackling the challenging terrain. Dessa wrote up a ride report of what she called “boot camp for cyclists.” Be sure to check out her recap on the forum.
I just read an article in a health magazine about the challenges of maintaining our fitness routines in the winter months. The article cited a lack of motivation as a main contributing factor to decreasing our activity in the winter. I couldn’t help but feel a bit smug as I skimmed the page. We’re not lacking in activity around here — Team Revolution has motivation and momentum despite the cold weather thanks to all of you. Keep coming out and spreading the bikelove!
Rev on.

I’d have to say we are a pretty kickin crew!
