Revolution feels it is important to help maintain the area trails we use and enjoy. Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC) http://www.gorctrails.com/ has trail build workdays throughout the year http://www.gorctrails.com/board/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6872 where they build new and maintain existing trails in the parks of St. Louis and St. Charles counties. Even though everyone is always welcome to attend periodically, Revolution will campaign a work day date and get a group together to show our support for trail maintenance.
The first of these Rev dates will be Saturday, March 12th. Work days start at 9:00 a.m. and go ’till about 12:30, with a provided lunch afterwards. Usually a group will ride afterwards if the trails are rideable, so plan to bring your bike along. Information regarding this workday can be obtained at this link http://www.gorctrails.com/board/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7028
If you are able to attend the first Rev supported trail work day at Matson Hill, post on stlbiking or email Suzanne Renner SuzanneR@TeamRevCycling.org and she will forward the lunch count.
If you have ever worked one of these days you know how fun and very productive they are. If you haven’t, consider giving back a small portion of your day in exchange for all the great times you’ve had riding your mountain bike or hiking the trails. Attending a workday will give you insight into what goes into building and maintaining a trail system and will also give you a new appreciation for the singletrack we tend to take for granted.
