Froze Toes Warm Up
What a great day!!! Team Revolution had EIGHT Category 4-beginner riders, and 3 women in the open race. WOW!!! This was fantastic. There was a field of 36 Category 4 women that came out to race yesterday. We applaud all of you for coming out on what seemed like it could be a really crummy day. We know everyone worked hard and some even fell prey to the road conditions with flats. This is what community is all about. Getting out there and trying something new and exciting is what keeps the kid in all of us alive. Events like Froze Toes helps all of us in facing fears, competitive nerves, and testing your fitness. We wish to thank the promoter of the race yesterday, as well as all of the supporters, Ultramax timing system, and volunteers that made it happen. To all of you that did not make it, let’s hear why!!!Let’s go ride!!! Froze Toes warmed us up to a great riding season ahead.

We heard many kudos to Jamie for rallying a good group after a poorlyl executed, staggered start for the women’s 4s. It was an unfortunate miscommunication that prevented this good field from starting the race as one big group because of confusion about neutral roll-out….
It’s worth pointing out that on the results page the winning women’s cat 4 pace matched the women’s open pace. Kristin Moore and Amy Livesay kept a nearly 21mph average. As a group of 8 in the open race, we echeloned quite well together, managing the same pace as those two (?) riders. That seems very impressive to me!
Also, I should say thanks again to Steve, a coordinator yesterday who after reporting to us that there’d be NO wheel support for women on the 31 mile course, put our wheels in his own car and followed the women’s open race. While that was incredibly helpful to us, I hope if we get a similar turnout next year for our 4′s category they’ll be fully supported, as well. I know at least one of our riders can attest to the frustration of waiting 25 minutes on the side of the highway in mid-30 temps in sweaty spandex as she suffered her SECOND flat (she fixed her first with a spare/pump she’s carried). That was not a fun race for her, but thankfully she’s got a great attitude about the experience.
Hey, congrats on your win, Pinkee!
Jamie was the cheerleader but Steph was definitely the trooper. Still smiling after having 2 flats.
